Yavapai County Enacts Stage 2 Fire Ban in Zone 2
YAVAPAI COUNTY, Arizona – Beginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, Yavapai County will enact Stage 2 Fire Restrictions for Zone Two (2) due to increasing fire danger and persistent dry conditions. These restrictions are being enacted preemptively by an interim order signed by Chair Mallory on June 17, 2025, and will be presented for formal approval by the Yavapai County Board of Supervisors at their next meeting on July 2, 2025.
This coordinated effort aligns with regional cooperators, including the Coconino National Forest and Sedona Fire District, which are also expected to implement Stage 2 Fire Restrictions on or around June 18, 2025.
Residents are strongly encouraged to visit the map available at yavapaiready.gov/fireban under ‘Fire Ban Information’ to pinpoint their specific zones and understand the restrictions in place.
These restrictions include the following Fire Ban Zones: Two (2) including the areas of Sedona, Camp Verde, and parts of the Verde Valley and surrounding communities in unincorporated areas.
As a reminder, Zones Three (3), Four (4) and Five (5) which include the areas of Ash Fork, Seligman, Black Canyon City, Congress, North Wickenburg, Peeples Valley, Yarnell, Wilhoit, and unincorporated areas herein, remain under Stage 2 Fire Restrictions that were enacted on May 23, 2025. The Department of Forestry and Fire Management, Bureau of Land Management, and Tonto National Forest are also under Stage 2 Fire Restrictions. Zone 1 and the Prescott National Forest remain under Stage 1 Fire Restrictions.
Activities Prohibited Under Stage 2 Fire Restrictions:
• Igniting, building, maintaining, or using any type of fire fueled by combustible materials such as wood, charcoal, briquettes, or coal. Exclusion: Portable stoves, wood pellet smokers, grills, fire rings, or other pressurized liquid petroleum gas (LPG) devices that can be turned on and off are allowed if located at a Developed Site, as defined in the ordinance.
• Smoking outdoors. Exclusion: Smoking is permitted within enclosed vehicles or at a Developed Site, as defined in the ordinance.
• Using internal combustion engines for activities such as landscaping, property maintenance, or household repairs. Exclusion: Internal combustion engines equipped with spark arresting devices may be operated for household-only activities, including landscaping, property maintenance, or repair.
• Use of explosive targets, tracer rounds, or incendiary ammunition. No exemptions available.
• Outdoor mechanical and industrial operations, including welding and the use of acetylene or other torches with open flames. No exemptions available.
In addition, the use of permissible consumer fireworks is prohibited. This applies to both public and private property across all fire ban zones in Yavapai County. Fireworks, even legal ones, pose a serious wildfire risk and are not permitted while restrictions are in place.
These fire restrictions will remain in effect until wildfire risk levels decrease. Fire agencies and safety agencies involved in this decision will collectively determine when conditions permit lifting the fire ban.
